Up for sale is an exceptional antique Edwardian ladies’ convertible brooch watch, crafted in 18K yellow gold as a finely engineered sphere adorned with royal blue enamel and rose-cut diamonds.
 
Spherical or “ball” watches of the late 19th and early 20th centuries were admired not only for their jewel-like appearance but also for their ingenious construction. Typically formed from two precisely fitted hemispheres, the case conceals a miniature movement within. In this example, the two halves screw against one another to set the time and wind the mechanism — a discreet system that eliminates the need for an external crown and preserves the purity of the orb form.
 
The surface is enriched with vibrant blue enamel, beautifully contrasted with the soft scintillation of rose-cut diamonds. The spherical watch is accompanied by its coordinating bow-form enamel brooch, allowing it to be worn elegantly at the lapel or bodice. Convertible designs were highly fashionable, offering versatility between pendant and brooch wear.
 
The enamel on the bow shows minor signs of wear consistent with age. Overall, this piece embodies the ingenuity and refinement characteristic of Edwardian jewel watch design. It is a true marriage of horology and haute joaillerie.
