Here is a beautiful vintage Patek Philippe ladies’ wristwatch, Ref. 4137/5, crafted in 18K yellow gold. The metallic blue dial is set within a surround of 26 brilliant-cut diamonds totaling approximately 1.81 carats and complemented by an integrated 18K yellow gold bracelet of finely woven gold strands. Powered by a manual-winding Cal. 16-250, the piece dates to 1981, as confirmed by the Extract from the Archives. Case no. 2792222, movement no. 1403171. Accompanied by the original box and the Extract from the Archives, the watch remains in excellent condition.

This is an exceptionally beautiful and elegant Ellipse, understated yet quietly glamorous. Of the hundreds of Patek Philippe watches I have collected over the years, this one easily stands among the most beautiful vintage Pateks.

A period advertisement reads, “The exclusive circle of a Patek Philippe.” The phrase feels particularly fitting here. “Circle” echoes the distinctive elliptical-shaped case of the Ellipse, but also carries another meaning: in that era, owning a Patek Philippe was almost an entry into an exclusive circle. More than an expensive watch, it was a quiet expression of taste and status.

What made this piece even more special was where it eventually found its home. Made in 1981, it was acquired by an elegant lady who was also born in 1981. Perhaps this is part of the charm of vintage watches — the coincidences you could never plan for. Finding a vintage watch you truly love is difficult enough; finding one that also happens to share your birth year makes the connection all the more special.

更让我意外的是，这支制作于1981年的百达翡丽，最终被一位同样出生于1981年的优雅女士收藏。或许，古董表最动人之处，就在于这些无法预设的巧合。找到一支真正喜欢的古董表已属不易，恰好又与自己出生于同一年，更是一份难得的缘分。
